Introduction: The Matang Wildlife Centre is about 35km from Kuching. Located in Kubah National Park, this large enclosed area of rainforest is home to endangered wildlife. There is a training programme here that teaches Orang Utans, who have been orphaned or rescued from captivity, how to survive in the wild. Visitors will be able to see lots of Orang Utans here, especially during feeding time. Besides these adorable primates, there are also Sun Bears, Sambar Deer, Civet cats as well as three large aviaries that house Sea Eagles, Hornbills and other birds in Sarawak.
Day 1 : Kuching – Matang Wildlife Centre
0830hrs-depart from Kuching/Hotel and drive approximately 45minutes. Arrive at the center and check-in. Normal check-in is at 1400hrs unless availability of room.
1000hrs- do jungle trekking to the Sungai Sendok Waterfall which approximately 1.3km or about 1 hr trek from the center. Swim at the pool and have a packed-lunch or trek back to park centre to have lunch at the communal hall at the Forest Hostel (Longhouse).
After lunch, proceed to explore another trail under the Mixed Dipterocarp Forest along the Rayu Trail. Come back late in the afternoon and proceed to observe wild animals in captivity. Among the wildlife there are the Orang-utans or the man of the jungle, jungle birds, mouse deer, macaques and other wild animals under rehabilitation will eventually be release into the wild.
1900hrs – together with your guide have dinner at the communal hall. Afterwards, get yourself ready to go for a night walk in search of the wildlife. The highlight of the night tour is to search the nocturnal animal called the Slow Loris genus Nycticebus, where some were rescued, surrendered and then were released in the centre. Sighting of wildlife is only by chance and weather permits. (Lunch/Dinner)
Day 2 : Matang Wildlife Centre – Kuching
After breakfast, do short walks with your guide to do bird watching or you can choose to enjoy on your own at the center. Check out from your room by 11am and transfer back to your hotel (Breakfast/Lunch)

Includes: Land transportation, accommodation at park lodge (Room with fan), meals as stated, entrance fees & English speaking guide.
Excludes: Beverages & items not stated.
Things to bring / wear: Light comfortable clothing, towel, trekking shoes and sandals, sun hat, sun block lotion, insect repellent, raincoat and drinking water
