Day 1 : Arrive Kuching / Dinner
Arrive Kuching Airport, meet and transfer to Abell or Lime Tree Hotel (3 star). Dinner at local seafood restaurant. Overnight at hotel. (Dinner included)
Day 2 : Kuching City Tour / Sarawak River Cruise
Morning, pick up from your hotel and depart for Kuching city tour to see most of the places of attraction around this historical city. Drive to see the gigantic cat statue, the mascot of Kuching city at Padungan before cruising through China Town. Stop at the Tua Pek Kong Temple, one of the oldest temples in Sarawak. Pass by the traditional Malay houses built on stilts. Winding through the heart of the city, look out for a majestic looking Astana, the former palace of White Rajah, but now the official residence of the Governor of Sarawak, the old Colonial Law Court House. Then, pass through the Clock Tower and a granite obelisk built in memory of Rajah Charles Brooke. Visit to Urang Sarawak Exhibition. Return to hotel.
Evening, depart to the jetty and enjoy a relaxing cruise along the Sarawak river to view this interesting city from the river. Take in the sights of the waterfront, malay villages, Fort Margherita, Astana, Square Tower and many more. This trip offers a panoramic view of the fast developing Kuching city, where the presence of the old buildings stands amidst modern ones. After cruise, return back to hotel. Overnight. Day 3 : Semenggoh Orang Utan / Iban Longhouse
Start your journey to Semenggoh Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre situated about ½ hour drive from Kuching, here, the orang utans are being nurtured to readapt themselves to the jungle life. You will have the chance to observe the Semi-Wild Orang Utans coming out of the forest for the feeding time. Before arriving at the feeding platform, you will have a brief experience walking through the amazing untouched rainforest. Continue journey to Batang Ai, along the Pan Borneo Highway, passing through the beautiful sceneries of rural villages, towns and gardens of pepper, rubber and rice fields. You will travel 275 km by road, with a few stops along the way: the first stop is in Serian town, where you will stop for refreshments. You may wish to make some last minute shopping for insect repellent or for gifts for the Ibans at Serian. You may also visit a fascinating native fruit and vegetable market. Next stop would be to the pepper farm and thereafter to “Lachau”, a small upcountry Chinese village, for lunch. (Here barter trade still exists between the natives of Kalimantan, the Chinese shop owners and the natives of Sarawak.). After lunch, proceed to the final stage of the journey and arrive at the beautiful Batang Ai Lake. Proceed with a scenic longboat ride to upriver to the Iban Longhouse. On arrival at the river jetty, proceed by motorized longboat up river to the Longhouse. Afternoon, tour the longhouse and watch the natives at work making mats, baskets, handicrafts and mending fishing nets. After dinner, join in the fun filled evening with the traditional dance and enjoy the locally brewed rice wine known as ‘Tuak’. Overnight at the longhouse. (Breakfast/ Lunch/Dinner included)
Day 4 : Iban Longhouse / Overland to Sibu / Night Market
After breakfast, witness cockfighting, a blowpipe demonstration. Depart by longboat downriver to the jetty.
Proceed overland to Sibu, rest stop in Betong Junction. Lunch in the local restaurant or coffee shop in Sarikei before proceeding to Sibu. Sarikei also known as the “Food Basket” for the Land of Hornbills. The economy of the town is primarily agricultural, and Sarikei is famous for its pineapples and its pepper. Short visit Sarikei town along the Rajang River bank, few rows of Chinese old chops, feeling the atmosphere for local crops and products trading activities. Continue drive to Sibu.
Arrive Sibu, Check-in Tanahmas Hotel (3 star). After dinner, visit Sibu Night Market, which opens nightly (depending on weather) selling a variety of local food, fruits etc. Return to hotel for overnight. (Breakfast / Lunch/ Dinner included)
Day 5 : Sibu Promenade Walk / Dalat / Oya / Mukah
After Breakfast, start by walking alongside Malaysia’s longest river – The Mighty Rajang River – at the Rajang Esplanade. Temple by the river and the Seven Storey Goddess of Mercy (Kuan Ying), check out Sibu’s Oldest commodities trading point and wharf or so called “Floating Market”.
Continue to Sibu Heritage Centre, a compilation of Sibu history, local ethnic and cultures, lifestyle and traditions. Visit the biggest Central Market in Malaysia which consists of 1,200 stalls and varieties of commodities. You may not only witness the local people’s trading style but explore some undiscovered products which only in Sibu.
Proceed to Dalat via speedboat cruising through the mighty Rajang & Igan River, passing by Malay villages, shipyards, timber & sago processing factories, Iban longhouses and Melanau villages. Half way stop in Sungai Kut Melanau Village for break and village walk around the serene and peaceful place.
Continue to Dalat by passing through the small river. Arrive Dalat. Visit a local Church by the River & Dalat Icon – The Jerunei Garden. Continue the journey to Lamin Dana. The Authentic Melanau Village, which contains Melanau Cultural Centre. Enjoy walk around nearby village and witness the mystical hollow burial pole, the Jerunei up close and personal. Relax & enjoy the exotic Melanau Dinner with watching fireflies among the trees in Lamin Dana if weather condition is good. Overnight in Lamin Dana. (Breakfast / Dinner included)
Sibu – Sg Kut is 1 Hour 30 Minutes by Speedboat
Sg Kut – Dalat is 15 Minutes
Sg Kut – Dalat depends on water level, if low water level need to use local van to
Dalat which takes about 15 minutes.
As Dalat is a small town, Food is limited choice, simple Lunch in Dalat.
Dalat – Oya 20KM of tar sealed road
Oya – Mukah 25KM of tar sealed road
Due to the religious reasons, please avoid visiting Dalat & Mukah on Saturday and Sunday, as you may miss out the sago tour program.
Lamin Dana accommodation is a replica of the authentic Melanau Style Tall house, no private washroom.
Day 6 : Melanau Cultural & Heritage Tour / Miri
After breakfast, boat cruise along Tellian & Misan River, visit the local sago processing centre, the cottage industry of producing Sago Pearls.
Boat cruise along Mukah River to reach the Mukah market where you can experience locals trading with each other. Observe some of the local products that’s on sale such as Siet (Sago Worm), Umai (Fresh Raw Fish) and others.
Return back to Lamin Dana. Experience the local Melanau Lunch before transfer to Airport for your flight to Miri. Upon arrival in Miri, meet and transfer to Dynasty Hotel (3 star). Overnight. (Breakfast/Lunch included)
Day 7 : Miri / Mulu National Park / Deer & Lang Caves
Morning, pick up from Dynasty Hotel and transfer to Miri Airport. Upon arrival at Mulu Airport, transfer and check in Mulu National Park lodge. Afternoon, depart for a three KM plank walk to Deer Cave and Lang Cave. Late afternoon, observe the millions of bats coming out from the vast mouth of the Deer Cave which will be a memorable occurrence (Only during fine weather). Return to accommodation and overnight. (Breakfast included)
Day 8 : Wind & Clearwater Cave / Penan Settlement
Depart by a long boat going up river to Wind Cave via Penan settlement. Visit the settlement and observe the lifestyle of this tribe. Visit Wind Cave and explore the limestone formation of this unique eco system. Continue the journey by plank walk to Clearwater Cave where more interesting stone formation can be seen. Picnic lunch at Clearwater summer huts. Return to accommodation and overnight. (Breakfast/Picnic Lunch included)
Day 9 : Mulu / Miri
Transfer to Mulu airport for your departure flight to Miri. Arrive Miri Airport, meet and transfer to Dynasty Hotel (3 star). Overnight. (Breakfast included)
Day 10 : Departure
Breakfast in hotel. Free at own leisure till check out and transfer to Miri Airport (Breakfast included)
